Is Wall Street Bullish or Bearish on Marsh & McLennan Stock?

Marsh & McLennan Companies, Inc. (MMC), based in New York, is a professional services company that provides advisory services and insurance solutions to clients in the areas of risk, strategy, and people worldwide. With a market cap of $114.2 billion, the company operates through Risk and Insurance Services, and Consulting segments.

MMC shares have lagged the broader market over the past year, surging 10.4% compared to the S&P 500 Index ($SPX11.9% surge. However, in 2025, the stock has gained momentum, climbing 8.7%, outpacing the SPX’s 1% advance.

Focusing on its industry benchmark, the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF) has risen 22.5% over the past year, surpassing the stock. In 2025 however, XLF has gained 6.2% and has lagged behind the stock.

MMC stock declined 4.9% following the release of its Q1 earnings on Apr. 17. The company reported a 9% year-over-year growth in revenue, which amounted to $7.1 billion. Moreover, its adjusted operating income rose 8% from the prior year’s quarter to $2.2 billion. MMC’s adjusted earnings came in at $3.06 for the quarter and surpassed the consensus estimates by 1.3%.

For the current year ending in December, analysts expect MMC’s EPS to grow 8.8% to $9.57 on a diluted basis. The company’s earnings surprise history is solid. It surpassed the consensus estimate in each of the last four quarters.

Among the 20 analysts covering MMC stock, the consensus is a “Hold.” That’s based on four “Strong Buy” ratings, two “Moderate Buys,” 12 “Holds,” one “Moderate Sell,” and one “Strong Sell.”

The configuration has remained stable in recent months.

On Apr. 21, Keefe, Bruyette & Woods analyst Meyer Shields maintained a “Sell” rating for MMC stock and lowered the target price from $220 to $215.

MMC’s mean price target of $238.06 indicates a premium of 3.1% from the current market prices. The Street-high target of $261 suggests a robust 13.1% upside potential.
